  1. Hi. I've sort of got drawn into Touhou from listening to music on youtube. From there I tried a couple of the games and came here looking for an english patch. I'm subbing to these forums because I have questions. I could be loosely considered an 'amateur game developer' having 2 rpgmaker games to my name. Though real life school work keeps me busy as heck and it's been over a year since my last release. I might make a fan game in the future, though more likely I'll be making my own games with maybe a few touhou easter eggs. We'll see when I get free time again.

  2. I'm playing Touhou on a Raspberry Pi 400, and I can safely say that it works. Except the text. The text for some reason doesn't like the ARM architecture on a Pi, and the fact I'm using Box86 and Wine together means that some errors are inevitable. I'm essentially converting Windows software to Linux, and converting it again to ARM from x86. I know Pytouhou exists, but it's not finished. Bombs aren't even implemented. Now, if someone could suggest an environment for Linux dedicated to running Touhou (6 to 10), like using Qemu, that would probably fix the broken text on a Pi. Or maybe

  8. Round 4. First is a curious arrangement of Prince Shoutoku's Pegasus ~ Dark Pegasus. Next is a piano MIDI arrangement for one of the new themes from Touhou 18. Due to the nature of the file type, you'll need to click through the link to listen on a different website. https://musescore.com/user/23794121/scores/6680794 Lastly is... uh, actually I'm not really sure what this is. But it has Faith is for the Transient People in it?

  9. I guess I should update this thread. Here's a new thing Oligarchomp made, a heavyweight character: He also made a Dream World stage a while back. But for me it lags like hell. The effect where the moving platform is visible through the stage is cool, but it's doing some funky stuff my CPU doesn't like. I suppose I oughta drop an update on how my own project is going, huh? It's been about 2 months since I officially revealed it... in game development terms, that's not a long time, but it feels like it's been absolutely ages to me! I don't know how soon I can ge

  11. Okay so long story short, I got trolled by a video on YouTube saying that "TouhouBuntu" was a thing. It was a lie, so now I'm making it real. To be clear, I know very little about programming and I only know C64 BASIC and Batch, so I'm using a program called Cubic to do the programming for me. This project is not an OS made from the ground up, but rather a customized Ubuntu installer that I plan to have 2 main features: It comes with Touhou 6 (probably the demo for legal reasons) and the starting web page is Moriya Shrine. Oh, and the wallpaper is Touhou related as well. (Just someth

  12. Hello it's me again. I like to draw once in a while aside from pew-pewing but the art says no :( Training stages 4 and 5 of EOSD on Normal so Remilia can kick my butt soon enough if Patchouli and Sakuya allow me. Tried my luck with some sketches of Rumia, Cirno and Meiling and decided to drop them here. Maybe I can try to make Reimu and the rest of the crew later on idk.

  13. Alright guys, I'm back with the results! Sorry if I took a bit long. I may or may not have failed to notice that everyone had submitted their ratings. I have to say, this has been a really great remix tournament, and I'm happy to have hosted it! Personally, I don't think there was a single song in this tournament I disliked! Now, since I know some of you like to guess who submitted each of the songs, let me just point out that inside this spoiler tab, one of them has been given away. So if you want to make your guesses first, do that before opening the spoiler tab. Some of my perso

  14. The shrine seems pretty quiet; I think I might be the only one not playing the new game right now. As much as it would behoove me to post some remixes of the new themes, I haven't had a chance to listen to them yet. So until there's a proper download for the OST, I'll just stick to my backlog. There is a linking factor between these two arrangements, but I suspect DF is the only one who will know it.

  15. SCHOOL SETTING!!!???? OHNONONONONONONONONONONONO NO it does not need to be in shcooals, look at nocturne for example the protag just wander around, the whole world is just like one large dungeon. perfect setting for gensokyo you mean like who you play as main protag? the one who you start with? i dunno, i still havent put much thought on this. originally i thought you play as reimu, gathering friends through negotiations. much like SMT series. although that make the fusion mechanics harder since.. ya know.. fusing 2 touhous to another will cause much conflicts in

  16. Hello there! After some years of being with an on-and-off relationship with Touhou I have finally decided I would like to take my playing seriously and work my way up from the basic basics. Even after biting more than I could chew in the past or being terrified of the insane skills of the top players (and being shamed) I still came back to attempting to play like an idiot, so I figured out deep down I enjoyed playing Touhou. Maybe bullet hells in general. But guess I never knew where to start. I have never 1CC nor finished with continues any Touhou entries before :_) If I recall corr

  20. Greetings there! Welcome to the forum, I hope you'll like it here. Best entry point for Touhou? Well, not counting the PC-98 games (1-5) I played them mostly in order, so I always suggest starting with 6 or 8, 6 also being a personal favourite of mine. But then again I also feel like "StARt WiTH tOuHOu 6" is a small brain opinion that everyone says, so feel free to ignore me. I guess best advice I can give for enjoying the games is, if you can't 1cc one of them it's fine to move on to another. You can always come back to it later once you've improved. Or just leave it. I certainly ha

  21. Luna Nights was a good game. Okay, that's an understatement. LUNA NIGHTS IS THE BEST FAN GAME EVER! It's a shame there's not a sequel. If there is one, wouldn't it be cool if it was like Castlevania Symphony of the Night? You know, candle whipping, pork chops in walls, sub-weapons, a map twice the size of Walmart, you name it. Maybe a Richter mode as well. Yes, I know Touhouvania is a thing, but the first game lags too much, and the second game is hard to play without a controller. If any member of Team Ladybug is reading this, PLEASE! PLEASE MAKE A LUNA NIGHTS 2! It wa

  26. Onto round 6! We're approaching the end. Opening this round is a calm Necrofantasia. Second is a more intense arrangement, this one of Lunatic Eyes ~ Invisible Full Moon. Closing out this round is a remix of Apparitions Stalk the Night.

  27. I'm not going to claim I'm familiar enough with Len'en 5 ~ Brilliant Pagoda or Haze Castle to properly represent it's music, nor do I feel guilty for it. This game is possibly one of the most creative takes on the curtain fire genre, featuring a branching story in which you can make choices mid-stage that effect what bosses you'll fight and consequently what dialogue you'll get to hear. A single stage is guaranteed to have multiple potential bosses (even some stages have multiple themes), and consequently there is a significantly larger quantity of music for this game. All together, the total

  32. How this started was, I was playing Ginka Densetsu Sapphire on my Pi Zero with an arcade joystick one day, and then I was like "Wouldn't it be cool to play Touhou like this?" Then an idea sparked in my head. I could make a Touhou arcade cabinet! I have the cabinet I made in shop class, so I thought I was halfway done. But NOPE! So it turns out that Linux god hates me, and I spent several weeks trying to get Touhou 6 (my favorite game in the series) running on my 1GB Raspberry Pi 4 with the help of Twister OS. Whenever I reinstalled the OS, it would work fine, but after messing arou

  33. Due to how THCRAP (the patching software responsible for implementing the English-language patches to the official games) actually patches the game executables, a process called DLL Injection, various antivirus software often misdetect the patched executables as "generic malware" or a "potentially unwanted program"/"PUP" due to other viruses maliciously performing the same process in order to infect your system. I would expect Luna Nights to have a similar issue where the patching method makes AVs think LN is a virus. In short: Your antivirus' detections are probably false positives

Sadly nicovideo doesn't embed, so you'll have to click through the link. https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm38542185 Second is some chillout metal. ...hang on, what? Thirdly, a techno remix of Nuclear Fusion, with vocals.

  39. @Dana Iclucia Definitely not your standard folk, but a very creative arrangement nonetheless. It seem this was the perfect time for a Len'en themed month, with the next remix tournament around the corner. This week is game #2, although canonically I believe it takes place simultaneously with the first entry. This is personally my least favorite entry in the series thus far, simply because fewer motifs stand out to me. By far my favorite theme from Earthen Miraculous Sword is the menu theme, Repose That Detests Even Good Luck ~ Need umbrella! The confident entrance of the piece with a leng

  40. Ever heard of ROBLOX? Well, maybe because of the newest Touhou trend "Become Fumo" on the site. But did you know that ROBLOX, the game maker software itself, has it's own OST? Surprised? Well, more surprising is that the music sounds really really good! Like, I'm talking, almost-as-good-as-Len'en here. (And Len'en music can't be topped, so that's essentially perfect). Here, take a listen. You might not notice at first glance, but a lot of these songs were the inspiration behind many more popular ones. For example, there's "Dignity's Childhood" which served as the inspir

  44. for me. i personally thought about combining Touhou with SMT/Persona series. Lotta character with it's own characteristics, expendable world, etc. also Reimu can actually summon Gods which kinda similar. Yukari got the similar role as Igor. Social Links?? also i already set in mind who the main antagonist is. what's left is the teammates though, i can use snae... but the others... eh??? i havent think much about it. actually IF i can code, i probably makin it right now. but yeah.... i cant... yet.

  45. Nowadays gaming community has the same issues as nowadays X community. It's too broad of a category for specific complaints, but is generally a very toxic mix in aggregate. Some of this comes from the more competitive nature of the hobby, but a lot of it just comes from differing view points and echo-chambers in the communication networks. Granted, it's a lot easier to find a comfortable group given the polarization of any individual group. For the most part if you want help in a game you can find a group that will support you, but you also run the risk of being talked down to/handheld constan
