Touhou content creators tier list

Recently, I've been very busy, and barely had any time to be in here. My idea is for creating a classic tier list kind of table, but with as many content creators as we know, from both the Japanese and Global communities. From the most famous doujin creators to the random YouTube shitpost creator you just stumbled upon. Initially, I was only planning to keep this list focused on YouTube content creators. I might keep it as such, unless you want to add examples from other fields as well. How would you/in what order would you place these creators?

Take this as a warm-up before the English-speaking community appreciation thread (something I've been talking about for a while, but dud not manage to come up with).

What criteria exactly are you using to determine who's part of the tier list? If you were to include any doujin circles, your list would be unquantifiably large. Obviously you want to include Touhou content creators from Youtube, so for that reason maybe you only want to include doujin circles who have an official Youtube presence - but at that point, wouldn't it essentially just become a music tier list? Which wouldn't even hold any value because music is subjective although tier lists are also subjective but usually the point of them is to attempt to be as objective as possible.

Also, what of content creators who do more than just Touhou? I'll give 3 examples.

First looking at MTB, he mostly makes Touhou content but occasionally he does something else like a Half Life video. Still, I think we would agree he is a Touhou content creator, but the next two examples are more tricky. They are also music examples, which is a bit ironic given what I said earlier about ranking music on a tier list, but that's beside the point. FalKKonE? He makes a lot of Touhou remixes. However he also makes just as many remixes for at least a dozen other fandoms. Is he a Touhou content creator or not? And Stringstorm, who you recently linked in this forum. They primarily don't make Touhou content, however they have a couple of videos about Touhou. Does that make them count as a Touhou creator or not?

Is the plan only to include active creators, or any creators?

Anyways, I'm very interested to see what this tier list could look like. I'm happy to magic up a list of a few creators I know once I know what's game and what isn't.

Honestly, I was initially looking to keep it small, just in the range of people from the English speaking community and who have a channel on YouTube. Also initially, I was thinking about adding the lore & essay (like AspreyFM. MegaFrog and Megapig9001), animation (like MTB and minusT) and shitposts (like XG3E). Channels like Perldrop would be hard to evaluate as he does a bit of everything. This top would live out the whole music section, as well as the other kinds of fan creations.

Perhaps the music part could be divided first into 2 groups: Japan and rest of the world. Then, maybe by music genre or if the songs are just instrumental or also contain vocals? I am not very sure about it anymore. I feel like I am doing it more complicated than it should be. Also I would personally include groups or channels that even if they narrowly got into Touhou stuff (ex: Stringstorm) or do both Touhou and other stuff as well.

Easiest thing I could think of was to just take a number of groups or channels you like, then sort them out like what grade would you give them/where would you put them in the tier list. Of course this would be a very subjective list, and I really do not expect it to be a definitive list. I just want to see what people think about different parts of the community and their creations. I hope it is a bit more clear now.

Honestly, AspreyFM and MegaFrog are top tier for me. Asprey makes really interesting Touhou challenge videos and commentaries about the Touhou games in general, while MegaFrog has lore related videos, and I always like me some Touhou lore videos.

For some reason tho, I don't really like Megapig or Suwawako. I just can't put my finger on why, but I can't watch their videos all the way.

Also, does anyone know about MagiFTW?

 1. Yes, Asprey has some very good videos on both stuff about the games and entertaining commentary. He is pretty much why I am continuing to ruin my sleeping schedule a night just because I want to catch him live (for reference, his streams start at 23:00 and end after 4:00 AM my area). Megafrog is also to be appreciated, especially for the monthly Touhou Activity Club podcast. Just as I was going to watch the most recent one starring Punderfulll (that one girl that does cool Touhou cosplay and pretty much helped me get a better view on the whole concept of cosplaying in itself).

2. I do appreciate Megapig though. I found hm through the reviews for event and chapter stories in LostWord (something I have not seen done by anyone else - and Megapig stopped doing them as well after the Minoriko event despite having asked him to return), then stuck for the rest of his videos. I also like his contributions to every Game Jam in recent time - the games he worked on are quite cute. As for Suwawako, he might have interesting videos, but he can be very annoying with how often he uploads community posts (like multiple times a day, and most of them useless).

3. Yes, I am familia with Magiftw. He was among the first Touhou channels I have ever watched, and pretty much the first lore channel I have gone to for learning about characters in the early days. Nowadays I see he is no longer active. Also surprised to see he is part of the Genso Boys group.

would put blankguy at the bottom. Guys just.....I don't have the words to say

I guess we should also place XG3E weeb in the same category? After all, is most likely the point where the whole current concept of "I want mommy/Touhou fans be like" kind of video started from. Also don't forget to count him lying about his opinion on the content, always going from "I hate that I started this trend" to "I got to embrace the cringe" or him constantly either community posting at some point how horny he is for Reisen (Udongein) or posting cursed stuff like cropped GyateGyate porn.

This connects a little bit to my thread about Touhou fans being horny. I did not start that thread in order to spite on the creators of R18 art. I am perfectly fine with the existence of that art, and there are some I actually quite enjoy. It was more about why us, Touhou fans online, seem to have been reacting in the past months as if we had never seen a woman in our lives. Which only became worse once these bland, cookie-cutter videos started popping out. This trend seems to have been going since at least January-February this year. The only place I could trace it from could be the original "I want mommy, I want milk..." Videos of one XG3E weeb. From there, the format exploded with dozens of channels milking it. And in time, the whole thing might have gotten a few mutations up to the current point. Its just Western Touhou fans becoming desperately horny since the beginning of this year at least.

Back in February, I wrote this. People did not seem to believe it was that much of a problem then, just something that would pass quickly.

Now however, in an irony of fate, it seems like I was pretty much right about the problem:

The difference between XG3E and blankguy is that XG at worst is a shitposter with an obsession with reisen who milked a meme Because it got him views. (Which to be fair, most YouTubers will pursue)

Blankguy is a shitposter that is obsessed with kaguya and who also happens to be a the touhou equivalent of Chris Chan with a extreme toxic attitude, who also seems to have called you out vonNumenor for "not getting the blank lore"

Also since when was MTB a western touhou channel. I thought he lived in the Philippines

Apparently for some, anything that is "not from Japan itself" is counted as part of the "western community", basically splitting the larger group between JP and everyone else. (Oh, also I knew MTB is from Malaysia, given the channel details)
