From what I can gather, it seems like you need to do each update sequentially. I came to that conclusion from the "099_101" patch being much bigger than any of the other files, meaning each patch has content the others do not cover.

So after setting up the game from "gsw_setup_v099.exe" you'll need to go through each patch starting from the earliest date to the latest (as of this post, that would be "gsw_update_100_106"). The first patch in particular will take a while to detect and patch the game files, so I suggest doing something else in the meantime.

So, this really doesn't support Windows XP? I hate when they do this. The whole series run on Win XP, but the Complete Box doesn't seems so. I wouldn't mind if I knew japanese, but they're moving the translations to the Complete Box now I won't be able to play it =/

So, it does run on Windows XP, but I'm having trouble to update it with gsw_update_099_101.exe. It says that the installed files are different thus can't be updated.

Have you made this game work with this installer here?

I suspect the setup is broken, because once the game is installed, the folder "data" is just empty. So no matter what update patch I try, it says no file was found to update. Also, in the official sanbondo page, there's only a patch for the version 1.00 of the game. The version available here for download is 0.99. I can't make this game work.

So, the game doesn't run on XP after all =/

The 4 games works on XP individually, but in the Complete Box, doesn't.

And it's so weird! After some testing, I found out that the game won't install on Windows XP, but once it's installed, the gsw.exe does run on Windows XP! BUT, it also DOESN'T!

gsw.exe will open on Windows XP, but you won't be able to pass the black loading screen, since you'll get an error. So, yeah, this is only for Win 7+.

I feel so disappointed. I really hope the devs would do a tweak to make it run on Windows XP, since all games runs individually.

A shame I won't be able to play this series(I managed to test the game in many ways from a friend's pc) since the translators will be moving all translation to Complete Box instead.

This made my day the saddest day of the year :(

This Complete Box have a english translation patch?

Not yet. I believe some folks are still working on a translation patch. The latest update post I found was from Maidens of the Kaleidoscope from September 2019, saying they're waiting till the game stops getting officially updated, since the process in patching in the translation requires editing the .exe file. You can read a separate translation of the game UI and such on the Akurasu Wiki for the meantime.

Hoping they can get it done soon as well.

Do you know where the best spot would be to lurk for updates on the situation?

is there actually translation project for the complete box?

According to Nook on the new translation repository:

Spoiler

While neither patch is out, note that every stage aside from the two new intermission stages are translated (sans special quotes from characters not deployed).  With the Dream thread being archived finally, the full translation of the stages are available on LP Archive.  ScarletMystic, Eternal, Dream

While not often coming up, Clarste (the main translator) also answers questions on his blog when asked and talks about the series occasionally.

Hi , it's me or 099_101 patch stuck here ?

While I never had this problem with most of the FMW games, the first two had this problem when I tried to patch them myself. This also was a problem with trying to get anywhere with patching Puppet Dance Performance (complete with the garbled text and question marks everywhere). With PDP at least, the issue resolved itself once I switched my system locale to Japan while patching (and made sure my Windows did have the Japanese language option (??) installed). My only advice is trying that, since the issue and screenshot seem identical.

When i switch my system locale to Japan for patching like when i do that with Touhou Puppet Dance Performance ,i have a error written in japanese and i don't know what is it.
It's works with TPDP patcher but not with FMW Complete box.

That sucks. Unless the I2ORC got it wrong, the error apparently says "Failed to open the difference file." I'm not sure what that means here.

I can't really help further unless you want a link to an already patched version that I put up on Mega for a friend. You still have to install the game beforehand but the files would be patched.

Two users have had trouble patching their game to the latest versions recently after installing the game (with the last one deleting the comment after I Dm'd them a 1.0.9 patched version). Is it against site rules to post a link to a pre-patched version of the latest patch in the comments?

Am I doing something wrong?
Ive changed my settings n such to the japanese.
Not sure if the patcher sees my pathing though with all the ???? or if thats just a censorship.
Either way, Im unable to update let alone start the game

I was having trouble installing but fixed it.

Anyone having trouble with installing, I did this:

  1. set windows locale to Japanese and restart PC
  2. (optional?) momentarily disable windows real time protection in Windows Security Virus & threat protection settings
  3. unpack the zip while your locale is in Japanese (unpacking in other locale may screw with the files/names)
  4. install the game with gsw_setup_v099.exe
  5. then run the patches in chain order: 099_101 -> 101_103 -> 103_1051 -> 1051_106 -> 106_109
  6. start game
