What the heck is this?
Moriya Shrine: The Game is a meme game made in RPG Maker.
The story takes place in the past, starting at around October 2017, following through various events in the Moriya Shrine Discord server's history. With a few exaggerations, of course.
Follow the wacky adventures of Sci and the Hug Crew as they go about solving various incidents throughout the Shrine, while protecting their friends through the power of hugs!
This game encourages exploration and is loaded with secrets and hidden things off the path of the main story.
Save often. You'll never know when a technical issue could pop up.

Installing the Game
The downloaded game first comes as a .exe file. Run the file and the game will start unpacking into its own folder in the desired directory. Inside that folder is a "Game.exe", which launches the game.
This game will be quite loud when first opened. Prepare your volume mixer for trumpets.

Basic Controls
Arrow Keys: Navigate menus, move
Z, Space or Enter: Select
X or Esc: Cancel, open menu
Shift: Sprint (in battle: make stuff go by faster)
Ctrl: Skip through text
Q and W can be used to easily switch through party members in the Status or Equipment menu.
Left and Right Arrows in the battle menu cycle through party members. Left Arrow while Sci is selected will reveal the option to escape. Right Arrow essentially skips that party member's turn.

This game is also playable with a controller, apparently.

As this is a meme game, just about all the graphics and audio are not mine. All material used belongs to their respective owners and no copyright infringement is intended.
Also yes, the game is quite huge, sitting at over a gigabyte in size. There's a lot in there.

What's New in Version 1.0


Chapter 14 released! The game is complete!
New final dungeon, bosses and skills. The final boss is here.
New optional areas; a sidequest featuring Tre's crazy misadventures, and an area intended for postgame players who are feeling daring.
The game finally has a proper beginning with a prologue and everything. There's also more dynamic chapter & boss intros.
Made in collaboration with Archie, Prixen, and Tremenvan.
Previously-made savefiles will almost certainly not work with this version, sadly. I've provided a savefile in the download button below the main game, which drops you off at the end of Chapter 13, for those who played before release.

Changelog (spoilers below):


-Ketos and Hugmunculus are now immune to Stun.
-Large Elixirs are cheaper to craft, nobody's ever used them.
-Fixed Antihug Brutes in the dark Thunderdome maze not properly exploding.
-Increased the drop rate of the Hex Necklace.
-Updated the battleback for Tre's airship.
-Updated some of the sprites for the enemies in the Motivational Abyss "stealth" section.
-Antihug Agents now have a 1 in 5 chance to drop a small elixir.
-Crafty now drops an Admin Key... duh.
-Insanity inflicted on the player now lasts 5 turns (used to be infinite lol?)
-Suwa's Burning Maw skill now deals 0.5 fire and 0.5 ice instead of full fire, so that you don't instantly disintegrate when both hits target the same person due to Chilled.
-Frost Relic now drops from Cirno Phase 1 instead of Cryogen, this doesn't really affect anything unless you're speeding through the game with F8, so that you don't miss out on it.
-Reduced the crafting requirements of the Void Robe so it's more on par with the Void Hood.
-Small Elixir healing rate boosted from 25% to 30%.
-Ketos now drops TWO Macaroni Tokens!
-Added the Macarultra.
-The Demotivated buff (given by Painter rematch) now reduces crit rate by 25% instead of 50%. It also now reduces Agility by 20%.
-The one skill where Phantom Watches "make you recall your past" now inflicts Demotivated instead of Agility Down.
-Solid Arche now counts as a "guard" so that it's not useless against Ecliptic Meteor lol.
-Soul Ignition now removes Brambly, whoops lol
-Captain is now immune to Flamed lol
-Added the Prologue.
-Added dynamic transitions into each chapter.
-Added Yakuza-style boss intros :3
-Added a new level 50 skill for Kira.
-Increased the volume of Bohemoth's video cutscenes.
-Flame Rain is now considered a Magic move even though it's not based off magic attack. Just don't want it being countered lol.
-Also buffed Flame Rain and Eviscerate a bit.
-Increased Quick Draw's, Counter Stance's, Magic Magnet's, First Aid's and Red Flag's speed priority.
-Buffed Descending Dark's horizontal range.
-Added 2 new items to the Lunar Shop.
-Remade the title screen.
-Added Luck scaling on Hug.
-Buffed Frost Bolt, Flamelash and Black Serpent.
-Quick Draw is now learned at level 41 instead of 45. Added a new skill for level 45 instead.
-Added a teleportation crystal at the bottom of the Motivation dungeon that takes you back to the top layer (and vice versa once you activate it).
-Oops, Hydro Storm can now crit.
