Description

This is the expansion to the popular fangame, Touhou Puppet Dance Performance. It plays very similarly to the base game with the main differences being the story plays out in a slightly different order, and puppets featuring Touhou characters from 14.5 and 15 are now included, which the previous game did not have. Additionally, new areas can be found in the expansion, as well as a new puppet type, the Warped type.

In this game's story, the player character finds themself transported to Gensokyo, to learn that a strange incident is occurring; many puppets shaped like familiar Touhou characters are running around Gensokyo, and no one knows where they're coming from. At the same time, people have learned to tame these puppets, and many are using them to battle one another in a form of new sport. Regardless, the player cannot return home until the incident is resolved; they decide to use these puppets to help solve the incident, so that they can return to the outside world (why would you ever do that though).

For those who don't know anything about Touhou Puppet Dance Performance, it's basically Touhou in Pokemon form with a few key differences, those being that the equivalent to what IVs are in Pokemon are visible in TPDP. Instead of being a numerical value between 1 and 31, it's a letter grade between S and E-, S being the best a stat can be and E- being the worst a stat can be. The way moves are learned and EVs are gained is also significantly different; when you hit the requirements for learning a new move, you can learn it through the Edit screen of your puppet where you can learn a skill from the entire list of what's available to the puppet at that level, though they cost PP to learn which is gained through winning battles. You can also use PP to reinforce stats, which is basically EVs except you have objective control over them.

Evolutions are handled in the form of style changes that every puppet has available from level 30 onward. Every puppet gets the option to evolve into any of three forms, two of which range across Power, Speed, Assist, or Defense, depending on the puppet. In Shard of Dreams, a new Extra style is available as the third option for any puppet to evolve into. For example, Chen at level 30 can choose to evolve into either Extra Chen, Speed Chen, or Assist Chen. You can only style change once though; the only way to reverse it is through reincarnation which is only available postgame.

Hi Messire!

All you have to do is cut and paste the FocasLens folder within the zip into your appdata roaming folder. You can get to that folder by searching up %appdata% on your windows search bar.

Once that's done you're good to go!

Have fun!focaslens_LI.jpg.3a3cb2c4a7b4c9ad863937345e2f8c7f.jpg

To anyone who's still having problems: I'm almost certain that this actually isn't the completed translation build.  Someone on the Touhou subreddit leaked a 99% complete version because they were tired of waiting, and I believe this is that version (in the zip with the installers, there's a folder named "SoD_Translation_Team-Testing", a "todo" text file, and if you look at the creation dates of the files, they're all 9/15/2018, and the completed patch wasn't released until the 27th.  Main download on this page has 9/15 dates as well.)  This may or may not have anything to do with some people's issues running the game, but it's best not to use an unfinished patch anyway.

The official release of the translation patch can be found here: http://thpp.supersanctuary.net/forum/index.php?topic=4364.0

I ended up tracking down the unedited Shard of Dreams files and updating/patching them myself, just to be absolutely sure.  My game works just fine, no problems as far as I can see.  I may PM Cirno later when I'm not so tired, and tell them about this, unless it's fixed before I get the chance.  I can provide the confirmed-working, patched files to update this download, if needed.  (Sorry if I'm mistaken and the game was indeed patched using the finished translation; I just felt I should explain my findings and offer help.)

Everyone else, if you don't want to wait, just use the download link with the installers (the one ErinE mentioned), then get the unedited files (DoujinGravity has them, just search for Yume no Kakera on there), and follow steps 1 - 7 in the "READ THIS (you)" file from the installer zip folder.  Ignore the rest of the steps, get the patch from the thread I linked to, and run it.  Your computer needs to be set to Japanese locale during the whole install process, AND when you play (or just run everything with Locale Emulator) otherwise there will be problems, and also you need the base game to run Shard of Dreams.  Follow the instructions in this video to ensure you don't make any mistakes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3F0MjQs6PQ

I saw both releases (99% and full) on Reddit. If this file is the first, the Shrine definitely should update the download file to the latest, 100% final translation build. I kind of expected the 99% version to appear sooner, since it was released some good weeks ago, and I assumed that this download here was the 100% version, seeing as this page was made some time after the full translation went gold. Nevertheless, good to know that there are workarounds to this issue; I'll be diving back into PDP shortly, a translated SoD was on my wishlist for quite a while!

This is a comment to the publisher, Cirno. In your description, it said that it includes both 14 and 15 puppets. I'd like to correct that. The original had the TH14 puppets available immediately. Only TH14.5 and TH15 are new.

I seriously thought for a second I lost the game, but I was just going into the wrong folder. Silly me. Clearly it's the one that says "Shard of Dreams," but since it's been ages since I've played this, I forgot. Aidan, you idiot.??

Been waiting for this for a while, but unfortunately while installing the game, I ran into many problems (mostly as a result of running on a Linux... I can run the Base Game 100% fine though, both the installed untranslated version and the English-patched version that's also on this site). If someone were to release a pre-installed, pre-patched version like the base game, it would make alot of users happy (Especially the Linux ones!).

Until that becomes a reality though... I shall watch, and wait...

Was having trouble trying to install the randomizer into the SoD patch. I looked up the emulator and it seems to say that it works for SoD.
Anyawy, I got this error "Failed to open file: C:\game\FocasLens\Randomizer/dat/gn_dat1.arc File I/O read error."

Note: I reinstalled the game with the folder name now being "Randomizer", and the game seems to run just fine. I did this both so I could have a copy and because renaming the folder outright just broke everything so I needed to reinstall the game anyway.

Hello. Seems like the download files have changed, as I don't see any of the folders in Ansen's screenshot above in the .zip file. I am unable to find the FocasLens folder in Roaming. If it helps, I also dowoaded the base game from this site, and that works fine.

It's not working for me. I managed to get the game up and running, but then it just freezes after about a minute of gameplay. Based on the sound effects, the game's still accepting input, as I can still hear myself making the character run into things. But the screen is totally frozen and unresponsive. Minimizing the game causes it to close, and no matter how many times I restart or reinstall the results are always the same.

Could someone please check these files? My antivirus apparently picked up a Trojan in the SoD updates.

nah, you should be fine. but I have a hard time reading your words so assuming what problem you have here.(I am a linux user btw but I find my ways)

the main reason you can't patch/run/install the game correctly is because
1. you need JP fonts installed on your Linux distro(and no, not the WINE ones)
2. it needs to be put in the right environment
3. the 'notkey' file is to contain the base game(aka TPDP)

Make sure to get these requirements(on Linux) before you do anything to update/patch this game(not to mention this uses WINE so...eh. also please backup your files)
I will give a couple of commands(well just one but...it's useful)

env LC_ALL=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine '<INSERT_FILE_NAME_HERE>'

there are maybe better alternatives to this but I use this,
So, to install patches/update the game first we

cd Path/to/file
//note : it would be best to keep them in .wine/drive_c/Program\ files

then use the command mentioned above to install the update, which will be done like this(as this is how I've done it and for efficiency's sake and also please put the patch files in the exact same folder as the game)
//note : for the SoD version
env LC_ALL=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine 'enbu_ap1000_1102.exe'
env LC_ALL=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine 'enbu_ap1102_1103.exe'

then afterwards you can install the translation patch(do I have to mention how to install it? nah, you already know..I hope)and to start the game you just
cd Path/to/file
env LC_ALL=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine '幻想人形演舞-ユメノカケラ-.exe'
//or what ever name it maybe
that should get you set up to play it on linux(ubuntu distro...haven't tested it yet with other distros yet)
after some cleaning, it should look like this(more or less)

And now Yukari's not appearing at the Hakurei Shrine. Do these files still work?

The Yukari doll that takes you to Gensokyo only appears after you've talked to every single NPC and then go to the next area I believe.

I had the same problem, but oddly enough, only after I started running. This problem only appeared a week ago, too.
