I found a fix for this. If you right-click the "Agree & Download" button and select "Copy link address", you can then paste the link into the HTML bar, press Enter and download it that way.

A bit late, but I hope this helps somebody.

thanks i thought the download link was broken or something, also for download managers you need to right click the "agree and download" and click "download on the download manager"

My game just shows me a black screen and crash after a few seconds when I click on it.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

I know it has been two years since you commented, but just in case, try using a locale emulator. I had the same problem, too and this fixed it.

Ok, so firstly when unzipping i got the messege telling about repeated file names. I chose to rename all. Was that the correct thing to do?

Secondly is the untranslated line in the opening scene. Not a big deal at all but I want to confirm wether thats an error on my part or just the tl oversight.

Thirdly the location names in the main menu arent translated for some reason. Is that also an error on my side or just missing tl? And is it possible to fix it? Its not gamebreaking or anything but it just sticks out to me.

I have the base game without plus disk on another pc where they are translated so if someone can tell me if I could maybe just copy some files from there and which ones if so to have it translated on the plus disk as well.

Just wondering, but will the steam one be released as a option to dl? I compared the one i got ages ago with the "recently updated" one on the thread and they're identical from what i can see.

Also, even the patch is identical (same untranslated part), so im not really sure what was even changed aside from the description in the thread that was added on, will probably buy it to support when i have the money anyway, but the patch should probably be updated at the very least, no idea where that's floating around though.

Ok so ive found a serious issue. The files for floors 28-30 and B11 are broken and you cannot access them. There are no stairs to them on f27 and B10. The game is impossible to complete (or at least the plus disc). Unless ive somehow messed it up which i doubt.

This error keeps showing up after I kill the FOE on the 2nd floor, I can't progress. What do I do?

Hey buddy! Sorry for the late answer, but I just happened to come across your message

Your image doesn't show up for me, but I think I know what you're talking about

I had the same problem over half and year ago. Along with another user who had the same issue, we concluded it's probably the exe file crack being rather "faulty" and not finding a place to "write" the Steam achievement you get when defeating a FOE for the first time around.

I went as far as to reverse engineer the game to correct a typo in that error message, and with that other user we changed some settings in the code that seemed to be wrong. Guess what? We couldn't solve it

However, I did buy the game some time after that. Here's the files that are troubleshooting (the steam dll and the exe):

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1IP3vbWX3NCIPm2HH9cX_B4TvXApJjOXr?usp=sharing

Those are the ones I got when buying the game on Steam. I didn't get anyone to test it for me, but replacing the "faulty" files with those may solve the problem. I can't recall correctly, but I think replacing these will not remove your progress

Alternatively, you could download the game from this link https://mega.nz/file/5Uki0C5Q#vhZxiRTju_W_f793tTxJRCLTpYEcniW4vUyplR17hck that I got from this website https://igg-games.com/labyrinth-of-touhou-gensokyo-and-the-heaven-piercing-tree-free-download.html Some guy in the comments says they got their download fixed and it worked for him, but I don't really know

Eh, that message was way too long, sorry, but hopefully you can get it fixed! You can reply back if you have any doubts, or DM if I miss the reply haha

replacing the "faulty" files with those may solve the problem.

Hello! I took the liberty to download the troubleshooting files and replace my old .exe and .dll files with them because of my own encounter with the faulty trophy relating to the defeat of an FOE.

Unfortunately, that did not seem to solve the problem. I suspect that it's due to both provided files being from Steam itself, therefore upon opening, it looks for sort of a "key" signifying that you actually own the game. And upon failure to find that key, it opens the game's Steam page. This scenario occurs even if I have only one of the supplied files at a time with the original opposite file (For example: The original steam_api.dll file with the troubleshooting .exe file). I could be wrong however, as I am just making a guess as to the reason why my attempts failed. Maybe replacing the files works for someone else. Maybe my failure has something to do with my own computer.

However, all is not lost. If one does decide to purchase the game off Steam, they can continue their other save files. And it doesn't require going around in the files and replacing anything.

I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from trying to make their free copy work. If that is what you want to do, then go for it. But if all else fails, or you give up on looking for ways around the issue, I heavily encourage buying the game instead.

Ah, I see, too bad. I don't think it has to do with your computer, though - it seems to be the .exe file needing a very specific patch. Thank you very much for testing, though!

Yup, getting the game on Steam does let you resume your progress automatically and it won't crash. That one other website seems to have fixed the issue too, according to what people claim in the comments. Alternatively, you could ask Nitorium to update the download with a fixed version (if they haven't already), or attempt to repair it yourself. I'll try to re-look at the code sometime too, just out of nerdy curiosity.

Hello! Downloaded earlier today and had a lot of fun. Got the aforementioned bug with the first FOE achievement. If anyone is able to think of a workaround (save file after achievement, maybe?) then please let me know. Would really like to keep playing.

Hello hello! I'll gladly set up a save file right after defeating an FOE for you! I'll make sure to edit this comment with a link sooner or later.

I do have one concern, though. I looked through all the Steam achievements for the game, and assuming they're all broken, it wouldn't take too long before one hits another roadblock.

For example... (Mild spoiler warning, just for a few early achievements)

Spoiler

Opens-A-Lot - Open 30 treasure chests (The green question marks)

Loving the Unknown - Collect 25 different sub equipments

Full Party Formed! - Have a total of 12 characters

It would seem that through normal progression of the game, it would be really easy to hit another milestone and accidentally trigger another faulty Steam achievement. And since story progression is a thing, it is extremely likely that you will trigger something eventually. The third achievement listed especially.

I'm sorry to say this, but if every achievement breaks the game like the FOE one, then the game becomes unplayable after a certain point, and it would be impossible to progress in any form.

A few examples of achievements that could make the game unplayable: (More spoilers, but for a few later achievements)

Spoiler

Tribute to Patchy - Increase character parameters 255 times

First Steps to Enjoying Crafting - Craft items 10 times

Subclass Opening - Collect a Stone of Awakening

Anyways, sorry for going off on sort of a tangent. Maybe I ranted just for everything else to work after that first achievement. Wouldn't that be hilarious?

https://mega.nz/fm/2rgmUTIR Here's the link for the files. I think you just have to replace your files with them. The prepped save file is the first one.

Quick notes: I immediately made a beeline for the FOE upon entering the second floor, and grabbed the loot it was guarding. So, the entire second floor hasn't been explored yet. Marisa has been upgraded to +20 MAG and +7 SPD. Most of the first floor has been explored, but I neglected to grab Rumia. I also used everyone's skill points, but if you don't like what I chose, you can always reset them at Patchouli.

I have a fix for the error with the first FOE achievement.

1. Open game.exe with a hex editor
2. Search for E8 48 24 FC FF
3. Replace it with 90 90 90 90 90
4. Save

This might cause some issues so I recommend backing up the original .exe along with the save files.

Awesome! It worked perfectly.

Just a question, though. Sparky mentioned that there are loads of other achievements that may or will trigger the same issue. Does this edit fix just this one achievement or all of them? Is there a way to find multiple strings like this and change all of them?

Glad to be able to keep playing, though. You have my thanks.

Edit: After playing for a bit, I have completed a few more achievements that I'm pretty sure are also Steam achievements. It seems that this one modification works like a charm.

Hi, just got an account to comment here.

Sorry but there is not much information I can provide here that actually solves the issue. I have tried @SparkyTheEevee's suggestion on the mega file from @SUPERNOOB20, it redirects me to the steam game, and I have also replaced just the steam api file, which results in the same outcome. I have not tried it on the file from the website here though, might do so next time.

Also, I couldn't do the hex editor method from @Pablo Escobar 2 as the search feature in a hex editor to find the set of numbers I need to replace, could not find the numbers.

Basically from my own experience, I cannot fix the issue with the suggestions here, sorry about that.

I have progressed into the game without defeating the FOE and went on to higher floors.

Edit: So, if im not wrong, achievement 41 also caused the same issue. I don't think that I can avoid that, and thus the game is unplayable, oh well.

iirc unfortunately beating 2 foes is required at some points to go further (floor 11, i think) so it's impossible to progress with broken achievement unless one would use cheat engine or other memory editor to edit coordinates and somehow bypass those parts without needing to defeat a foe/s

however this does work with version downloaded there (without any changes) at least for first foe achievement (can't yet say whether it creates any further problems or any other achievements are bugged as well, since i'm too early in the game) and because i'm playing with 4 characters only on hard mode things are going quite slowly as of now

Edit 1:
so far i've reached the end of 15f of main game without a single issue nor crash seems like it's going smooth so far (if for some reason anyone has issues with hex editing you can dm me so i can send you edited executable, i'm not sure it wouldn't break rules or something sending in there so)

If you're using HxD Hex Editor (or any other I believe, this is just the one I used), make sure "Hex-values" is selected before trying to search for the string. "Text-string" will give you nothing.

hi there! I've been trying to use the hex fix tutorial as followed above, but whenever I do it keeps saying that the file isn't compatible with my pc (Running on windows 11 if that helps or not) the hex editor I'm using is HxD if that helps.

edit: nevermind I just was deleting the first string of code and typing in the five 90's instead of replacing them

Upon getting some achievements (I don't exactly know which ones), this will appear and close my game, erasing the progress which I did after saving. How can this be fixed?image.png.caa1b0e278065992d06437ff36c2aca6.png

Edit: I just found out that others are having this issue. I'll try to use a hex editor and see what happens.

Hi there, so I've done this and it worked perfectly. But in exchange, Yuugi won't seem to appear in floor 6, no matter how many FOEs I slain. I've also finished floor 20, but I can't go to the underground levels because I can't enter without having 46 units (I have 45, the last one being Yuugi). Is there any way to fix this?
